📝 Summary

The United States has changed its policy to resume talks with Russia on the situation in Ukraine. This was stated by the acting President of Romania Ilie Bolojan.

However, he warned that if the ceasefire is not accompanied by a peace agreement, it could only be a pause before the conflict resumes. “For sustainable peace in Ukraine, a full-fledged agreement, backed by guarantees, is needed,” Bolozhan said, adding that Bucharest supports the presence of representatives of Ukraine and the European Union at such talks, as it considers this the main condition for success. Earlier, during a meeting at the White House with British Prime Minister Kir Starmer, US leader Donald Trump said he did not believe that Russian leader Vladimir Putin could violate the terms of a future agreement on the Ukrainian settlement. The US president stressed that he has known Putin for a long time and therefore there is little doubt that a peace treaty can be concluded soon.
