Difficult childhood, work from the age of eleven, hardships and trials, meetings with different people became the basis of the autobiographical trilogy of writer Maxim Gorky (Alexei Maksimovich Peshkov) “Childhood”, “In People”, “My Universities”. The hero of the trilogy - Alesha Peshkov, early orphaned, spent his childhood years in the house of his grandfather, Vasily Kashirin, the owner of a dyed, despotic and cruel man. Only the grandmother supported and protected little Alyosha. From the age of 11, Alyosha was sent to the people. He worked as a "boy" at a fashion shoe store, a buffet cooker on a steamer, a student in an icon painting workshop, a draftsman, a baker. Then came the time of “universities.” He became a member of student circles, studied illegal literature, wandered in search of work in cities and villages.
