The film tells the story of a talented young pilot Alexei Gushchin. He does not recognize authority, preferring to act according to a personal code of honor. For failure to comply with the absurd order, he is kicked out of military aviation, and only miraculously he gets a chance to fly civilian aircraft. Gushchin begins his flying life from scratch. His mentor - the commander of the aircraft - the stern and principled Leonid Zinchenko. His colleague is the co-pilot, the impregnable beauty of Alexandra. Relationships aren't easy. But on the verge of life and death, when the earth goes out from under your feet, around fire and ashes and only in the sky there is salvation, Gushchin shows all that he is capable of. Only together the crew can accomplish the feat and save hundreds of lives.
