The date coincides with the anniversary of the adoption of the law "On guarantees of the rights of indigenous peoples of the Russian Federation" in 1999. “FADN of Russia is developing a draft decree of the President of the Russian Federation on the establishment of a commemorative day dedicated to the indigenous peoples of the Russian Federation,” TASS said. It is specified that this day is not planned to be considered non-working.
