He noted positive changes at the beginning of the dialogue between Russia and the United States on the Ukrainian issue, but the key to future peace will be linked to the successes of the Russian army on the battlefield. "We are absolutely ready for diplomatic dialogue, primarily from the perspective of establishing peace. It is very good that this dialogue has started with representatives of the new United States administration. But the key to future peace is indeed the successes related to the liberation of Russian territories that the Russian army is currently achieving. <...> We need to strengthen our positions in terms of the victorious advancement of the army, and then diplomatic successes will also lead to a unified result," Afonin believes. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, Russian troops have liberated the village of Topoli in the Kupyansk district of the Kharkiv region of Ukraine. The settlement is directly adjacent to the border of Russia.
