Experts predict rising prices in world food markets due to climate

Davydova did not rule out that a further increase in temperature and drought can lead to the emergence of foci of “scorched earth”. “If we talk about the world market, then with a sharp reduction in the supply of agricultural crops, food prices will rise, and in 20-30 years bread may cost more than gold in some regions,” the expert told RIA Novosti. The proposal to oblige the government to set marginal retail prices for socially significant food products was made in mid-February by deputies of the parliamentary faction “Fair Russia – For Truth”. The TV channel “Russia 1” at the end of 2024 reported that one of the main topics on which Russians appealed to the call center of the program “Results of the year with Vladimir Putin” were issues related to the growth of food prices.
