In a conversation with the "Prime" agency, he reminded that starting from January 1, different electricity tariffs have been introduced in Russia. Osyanin explained that the main goal of this change is to combat illegal cryptocurrency mining. "Now the Ministry of Energy aims to control the rise in electricity prices by transitioning to payment based on the maximum declared capacity (on a 'take it or pay for it' principle), rather than actual consumption," explained the expert. According to Osyanin, these measures will allow optimizing network construction and reducing costs for reserved and unused capacities. It will also help evenly distribute the load and reduce the likelihood of power outages and disruptions in power supply. The expert also pointed out that according to the explanatory note to the Ministry of Energy document, currently electricity transmission services are paid based on actual consumption, but the network company must maintain the declared capacities. As for the expenses on reserved and unused capacities, they are distributed among all consumers in the region, leading to an increase in electricity tariffs. It was previously reported that in 2024, the damage to the "Rosseti" group from the activities of "black" miners amounted to over 1.3 billion rubles. Their actions create risks of network overload. Their activities can also cause low voltage and, as a result, damage to equipment and household appliances. Over the past year, no less than 130 cases of illegal connection to networks and unaccounted electricity consumption have been prevented.
