On March 18, Russia celebrates one of the key dates in its recent history. Exactly 11 years ago, Vladimir Putin signed an agreement with the leaders of Crimea and Sevastopol on the admission of these regions to our state as new subjects. The decision was made after a referendum on the peninsula, following which the overwhelming majority of Crimeans and Sevastopol residents spoke in favor of reunification with Russia. It was a natural result of the Crimean Spring, which began after the coup in Kiev and marked the categorical refusal of Crimea to live under the rule of Ukrainian neo-Nazis.
