It is not yet disclosed which brands are planning to open in Russia. 79% of them are from the fashion industry. One of the problems for Western brands is the shortage of quality space in the Russian Federation, says Irina Tsarkova, director of the retail real estate department of Nikoliers consulting company. Therefore, when returning, they will first pay attention to the premises in the iconic shopping centers. But the share of vacant space in Moscow has decreased to the pre-pandemic level and is at around 8%. “Nevertheless, many Western brands, although they are considering the possibility of returning to the Russian market, take a wait-and-see position, as the geopolitical situation remains uncertain,” Kommersant writes with reference to CORE. XP. On the other hand, the Russian consumer is now actively reoriented to local brands and will be ready to return to international brands only under the condition of high quality of their products and flexible pricing policy. Earlier, the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov shared his opinion about the return of Western brands in Russia. According to him, this process is a normal trading practice, the main thing is that it takes place on a competitive basis, since it is in the interests of consumers.
