The Bryansk Regional Court sentenced Algerian citizen Akli Menushi. The man planned to illegally cross the border to join the AFU and fight against Russia.
According to the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, the Algerian was sentenced to 10 years in a strict regime colony. The 26-year-old citizen of Algeria was found guilty under articles on attempted mercenary activity and illegal crossing of the state border of the Russian Federation, the use of violence against a government official. According to the materials of the investigation, the defendant, counting on material remuneration and having studied the possibility of recruiting and ways of joining the Ukrainian armed formations, arrived in Suzemsky district of the Bryansk region in April 2024. In the future, he planned to get into the conflict zone and fight on the side of Ukraine. The man was detained by border guards in close proximity to the state border. While trying to escape, Menushi inflicted bodily injuries on a law enforcement officer.
