Among the suspects are two brothers from the Tula region, an 18-year-old Kemerovo resident, a 17-year-old resident of Tyumen, two 15-year-old schoolchildren from the Irkutsk region and the Krasnoyarsk Territory, and a 16-year-old resident of Bashkiria. This was reported on Tuesday by the press service of the St. Petersburg police. Attackers bought SIM cards of telecom operators. After registration in the popular messenger, they gave access to accounts to scammers, who later called from these numbers to citizens of Russia. It is reported that for each activated account, the accomplices received from 5 to 25 US dollars in cryptocurrency. It is specified that the detainees are involved in more than 1,300 episodes of illegal activity. During the searches, they seized smartphones, laptops, system units, as well as bank and SIM cards. Criminal cases have been initiated under articles on theft and fraud.
