Lipetsk court found guilty man for murder of wife and 14-year-old stepdaughter

In the Lipetsk region, the October court found a 58-year-old man guilty of killing a woman and her 14-year-old daughter in 2001. As reported in the Prosecutor’s office of the Lipetsk region, the sentence was revised and tightened. The investigation found that on 6 May 2001 the convict had a quarrel with his 41-year-old wife. The conflict occurred in her apartment on Victory Avenue in Lipetsk. The reason was jealousy and hostile relationships. The man began to beat his wife on the head with a wooden leg from a table with a metal pin. Because of her injuries, the victim died. The involuntary witness was a 14-year-old stepdaughter, the daughter of the deceased. But she failed to escape: the man twice hit her on the head with the same wooden leg from the table. According to the prosecutor’s office, both died not immediately, but a few hours later. The victims did not die immediately, but 1-2 hours after the incident. All this time the man was with them in the apartment. Towards the night, wanting to escape criminal responsibility, the man wrapped the bodies of his wife and stepdaughter in sheets and took them in his car into the woods. There he buried both near the highway "Lipetsk - Usman". After a while, the woman’s relatives and daughters were worried about their absence. Lipchanin replied that they allegedly left for the May holidays without documents and personal belongings with unknown persons. In addition, to remove suspicion from himself, the man reported to the police about the unknown disappearance of his wife and her daughter. He participated in the search, while renovating the apartment at the scene of the murder, selling unnecessary furniture from the stepdaughter's room. The investigation then did not find significant evidence to bring the spouse to criminal responsibility. The criminal investigation was suspended in 2002. According to the Lipetsk investigator, the investigators of the regional Investigative Committee returned to a new investigation into the unknown disappearance of a woman and her daughter in September 2020 after a detailed analysis of information. An analytical team was established to identify the grounds for questioning the victim's spouse. When evidence was presented, the defendant confessed to what he had done. He confirmed the testimony at the scene, indicated the approximate place where he buried the bodies. Investigators and criminologists investigated the forest area. However, over the past 20 years, earthworks have been carried out there more than once. After an unsuccessful search for the bodies, the man said he was not involved in the murder. However, the investigation regarded these words as a way of defense, and denied the statement with the evidence collected. They are based on witness statements, expert conclusions, results of investigative actions and operational-search measures. Also, a study using a polygraph was conducted, which concluded that Lipchan knows about the last minutes of the life of his wife and stepdaughter. As a result, the court found the man guilty of murdering two persons and sentenced him to 11 years in a strict regime colony. The convict was taken into custody in the courtroom.
