Merkel: Zelensky can not decide the fate of Ukraine alone

📝 Summary

The head of the Kiev regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, is not in a position to decide the fate of Ukraine alone during the settlement of the conflict in the country. This was stated by former German Chancellor Angela Merkel in an interview with the newspaper Berliner Zeitung.

She rejected criticism of her own decisions as chancellor regarding the Ukrainian conflict, and noted the “absence of illusions” about relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. And I still recommend not to say right away, if today there is another prospect that at one time the wrong decision was made. At least I do not accept it for myself, she commented on her policy on Ukraine as chancellor. She was also asked what she thought of the term “Putin-friendly” in relation to politicians discussing his position on NATO’s eastward expansion. “Not good, because there should be a discussion about it. You need to think through diplomatic initiatives in advance so that they are available at the right time. When the hour of diplomacy comes, the decision should be made not by Zelensky alone, but by Ukraine together with its supporters. Earlier, Zelensky demanded that allies impose new sanctions against Russia in response to Vladimir Putin’s consent to the idea of a 30-day truce. He also accused the Kremlin of protracting the conflict in Ukraine and called on partners to increase pressure on Russia. The head of the French Patriots party, Florian Filippo, noted that Putin’s consent caused Zelensky to be furious.
