The mercenary of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) from New Zealand Jordan O'Brien appealed the verdict of the Kursk court, which found him guilty under article on participation in the armed conflict and sentenced to 14 years in prison.
The applicant of the complaint was the defender of the convict - Sinenko Yu.V. The appeal was accepted for consideration and sent to a higher court. In early November last year, the prosecutor’s office approved the indictment against a New Zealand mercenary under Part 3 of Art. 359 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – the participation of a mercenary in an armed conflict. According to investigators, O’Brien arrived in Ukraine in April 2022. Subsequently, he participated in hostilities against the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (RF Armed Forces) and received material rewards for this. In August, he invaded the Kursk region as part of the APU. In December, a regional court sentenced him in absentia to 14 years in a high-security colony, sums up RIA Novosti. During this time in the Russian region they lost more than 63 thousand fighters. Some of the captured Ukrainian servicemen confessed that while in the Kursk region, they killed and raped our citizens.
