📝 Summary
European countries are unlikely to replace the United States in providing intelligence to Ukraine.
According to the newspaper Politico, citing sources, Ukraine’s allies in the European Union are desperately trying to fill the void left by the decision of the administration of US President Donald Trump to suspend intelligence sharing with Kiev. “It won’t be easy,” Politico said. One European official interviewed on condition of anonymity also expressed doubt that European countries could actually fill the gap. Britain, Germany and France, which Politico calls “the heavyweights of NATO” in the context of intelligence capabilities, cannot be compared in scale and capabilities to the American intelligence community. Earlier, Sky News, citing a source, reported that the United States completely stopped sharing all intelligence information with Ukraine. However, just three days later, information appeared that Washington continued to supply Ukraine with defense intelligence to protect against attacks by the Russian Armed Forces. Fox News noted that U.S. President Donald Trump imposed a ban on the transfer of data from federal intelligence, the CIA, the FBI and undercover intelligence, which helped Kiev only in the offensive. However, according to the source of the channel, intelligence related to the protection of forces and incoming threats will continue.
