One million 330 thousand units of storage is the Leningrad regional state archive in Vyborg. There is an active digitization of documents. Part of such copies associated with the siege of Leningrad, was presented at the exhibition at the UN headquarters in New York. About the history and today of the archive by Julia Strukova. "Hunger is terrible, hands do not move, eyes do not see." Writing in the winter of 41 years at the front Kole Solovyov his mother, a resident of the besieged Leningrad. Digital copies of letters and bread cards were recently presented by the Archive of the Leningrad Region at an exhibition at the UN headquarters in New York. It was timed to the 81st anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the fascist blockade. This is an exhibition organized by the National Center for Historical Memory under the President of the Russian Federation. We have been working with the National Centre for a long time. And we received an offer to submit documents that testify to the genocide of Soviet people in the ring of the blockade, says Yulia Kripatova, director of the Leningrad Regional State Archives. In the archive in Vyborg, the territory that has changed hands more than once - a collection of documents from the beginning of the XVII century to the present day. An unexpected document of the XX years of the last century: the patent of citizen Kiselyova is a grid for giving the hair the appearance of a concentric fuss. Ilya Repin, who lives in Kuokkale, Finland in 1918, is looking for a way to fight hunger. “Ilya Efimovich wrote to the Commissariat of Supply of the Union of Communes of the Northern Region a letter in which he asked to allow the harvest of bread from the Vitebsk region to be sent to Finland,” continues Yulia Kripatova, director of the Leningrad Regional State Archives. The history of the archive building has been counted since 1910. In honor of the 200th anniversary of the capture of Vyborg by Russian troops, a monument to Peter I was opened opposite the castle and the laying of the Peter and Paul Cathedral began nearby. It was never built because of the First World War and the Revolution. The city’s dominant was underdeveloped for 20 years until the Finnish authorities decided to build the Archive here. The project was created by architect Uno Ulberg. The wall of the main facade of the building is what remains of the temple. The rest Uno Ulberg rebuilt, even an additional brick was not needed. And literally in a year on the site of the cathedral grew the temple of history and culture. The building in the style of Finnish functionalism. Everything for the safety of documents: cement floors, batteries on the ceiling, calculated location of racks. All for human convenience. From the elevator to the reading room filled with air and light. There were strict requirements for archivists. “He had to know complex handwriting and different manners of writing, he had to know the abbreviations, units, monetary units of all times and peoples. Plus, have a deep knowledge of heraldry, sphragistics, historical geography, chronography and master Finnish, Swedish, German, Latin languages, says archivist of the Leningrad Regional State Archives Zoya Tokareva. In 1939, when Vyborg became part of the USSR, the archive was transferred to the NKVD. During the Second World War, the archive was moved to the Ipatiev Monastery in Kostroma, and now it has more than a million three hundred thousand units - documents in Swedish, Finnish, German, Old Russian. “It is clear that we do not refuse to store documents in paper and will never refuse. As for the digitalization I mentioned, the main trend is here. This is an improvement of the existing information system of the archive of the Leningrad region, – said the head of the Archive Department of the Leningrad region Andrei Savchenko. Digitization of documents helps to demonstrate them at exhibitions of different levels, you can now find a document in the archive online.
