The treaty between Russia and Belarus, which provides security guarantees for the two countries within the framework of the Union State, has been ratified by the Belarusian side. Such a bill was adopted during a meeting of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic.
One of the provisions of the treaty regulates the establishment of military bases on the territory of Belarus to repel acts of aggression. Earlier, the Federation Council of the Russian Federation also approved the law on ratification of the Treaty of the Russian Federation and Belarus within the Union State on security guarantees. The decision was made during a meeting of the upper house of the Russian Parliament. The treaty was ratified by Russian President Vladimir Putin and signed by the two heads of state on December 6, 2024. It enshrined the obligations of Russia and Belarus in the field of defense and security of external borders. The document allows states to use all possible forces and means for mutual defense, including nuclear weapons.
