Rock opera "Walking into the Fire," dedicated to the participants of a special military operation, was presented at the Russian Army Theater. This performance marked the culmination of a large tour across Russian cities. It has been ongoing since September of last year. Ksenia Egorova saw the rock opera on the third anniversary of the Special Military Operation. On the anniversary of the start of the operation, they remember those who have been bringing Victory closer for these three years. Their faces are displayed in a photo exhibition in the lobby of the Russian Army Theater. They also remember the premiere of the rock opera "Walking into the Fire." It took place in the capital of tank manufacturing - in Nizhny Tagil at the Uralvagonzavod, where our legendary T-90 tanks are produced in three shifts. Bright memories. "The premiere was at Uralvagonzavod, it was amazing, an aesthetics that Meyerhold could dream of. The combination of an absolutely powerful, concrete, menacing, steel, thundering, resonant conveyor and this epic of war," says writer Alexander Prokhanov. Achieving such scale in Moscow is difficult even on the large stage of the Russian Army Theater, but that's not the point here. Here you won't find any special props, decorations, or technical means. On stage, only the most important thing and this military equipment. The main task is to translate the language of poetry into choreography and music. And, of course, to convey the main meanings. This is the first work of this genre created not just based on historical events, but directly during them. By the summer of 2022, the main arias were ready, the plot was developed. By the way, it is non-linear, rather metaphysical. The main character is not a specific person but the History of our country itself, revealed to the audience through key events of the past. "Through tears, through suffering, through misunderstanding, when suddenly they realize that ships are sinking in the Black Sea, and in Moscow restaurants they drink Chablis. This grumbling, reaching anger, and then: yes, drink your Chablis. That is, all these nuances of real life - they will be presented here," says the author of the music and libretto, Alexander Ageev. All this is a kind of Odyssey, the journey of two characters - the Poet and the Warrior. Through the battlefield, field hospitals, ruins of cities and villages. What do they want to find? Understanding of their true selves. "When some trouble comes to the house - we unite, we can be separate at times. This is always the case, I think, it's everywhere, but when, roughly speaking, it comes to the house, everyone. The whole family comes together. And they start to charge up and go into battle," comments director Dmitry Nikitin. On the Defender of the Fatherland Day and the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, the rock opera will be shown not only in Moscow but also in Sevastopol, St. Petersburg, Tomsk, Kursk, and other cities - because representatives from all over Russia are involved in the Special Military Operation and the themes are very close to everyone. Russia, having gone through the toughest trials, is rediscovering the path to the Russian dream. What is its meaning? - there is no secret here.
