"200 genuine works from the Hermitage": Volgograd residents get acquainted with a new exhibition in the Mashkov Museum

200 original works from the Hermitage. Three exhibitions occupied the entire space of the exhibition hall of the Museum on Chuikov Street. In the exposition "Porcelain Russia" visitors can see statuettes of sculptor Pavel Kamensky. There are 25 figures that were held personally by Emperor Nicholas II. “These are the statuettes that come from the historical Winter Palace collection, that is, they were in the personal control of the emperor and his family,” says Ekaterina Khmelnitskaya, a leading researcher at the State Hermitage Museum. The figures are made in porcelain with overglaze and underglaze polychrome paintings. They depict representatives of the peoples of Russia. The choice of the exhibition was not accidental. The exhibition symbolizes the unity of our peoples on the eve of an important date. Leningrad and Volgograd are practically brothers. It is very important that these Days of the Hermitage in Volgograd are held in such a significant year – in the year of the 80th anniversary of the Victory, in which both our cities proved themselves very courageously, says Alexander Prokhorenko, Deputy General Director of the State Hermitage. A significant part of the exposition was the unique originals of Rembrandt, Rubens, Shishkin, Vasnetsov. The Hermitage presented these paintings to the Mashkov Museum in the 60s. “It takes pride and such a sense of dignity for your beloved hometown,” says the visitor. “It is a great happiness to see the exhibits that are exhibited in the Hermitage, here in our native Volgograd,” says the visitor. The grand opening became a real festival of art in Volgograd. Lukoil provided significant support in the implementation of the project. “The museum alone would not have handled such a complex project. We are very grateful to our partners, philanthropists, who helped in its implementation. I want to talk about Lukoil, with whom we have been associated for many years with friendship and cooperation in terms of creating such new projects, said Varvara Ozerin, director of the Volgograd Museum of Fine Arts named after I.I. Mashkov. You can touch the masterpieces of world art from March 7 to June 1 at the exhibition hall of the Mashkov Museum on Chuikov Street, reports GTRK Volgograd-TRV.
