Moscow has set a historical record for the number of tourists who visited the city in 2024.
The number of tourists visiting Moscow last year increased by three percent compared to 2019, which is considered the most successful for the global tourism industry. This was reported by the mayor of the capital in his Telegram channel. According to him, in 2024 Moscow was visited by 26 million people, which is 1.5 million more than six years ago. “At the same time, a third of the domestic tourist flow is provided by the subjects of the Central Federal District, another 17-18% are guests from St. Petersburg, Khanty-Mansiysk, Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Krasnodar Territory, Tatarstan and Sverdlovsk region,” the mayor said. Tourists from China and the Middle East began to choose Moscow more often: 2.7 million trips were made by guests from foreign countries. It is expected that the tourism industry will replenish the budget of the capital by 225 billion rubles. These funds will help make the city even more comfortable for Muscovites and guests of the metropolis.
