The court sentenced a 37-year-old resident of the Jewish Autonomous Region to a year in prison in a strict regime colony for beating and then stabbing a dog to death by a friend. Earlier, the convicted man at the time of the crime was in a state of alcoholic intoxication, the press service of the prosecutor’s office of the EAO reported.

The court sentenced a 37-year-old resident of the Jewish Autonomous Region to a year in prison in a strict regime colony for beating and then stabbing a dog to death by a friend. Earlier, the convicted man at the time of the crime was in a state of alcoholic intoxication, the press service of the prosecutor’s office of the EAO reported.
The defendant was found guilty of cruel treatment of an animal in order to cause him pain and (or) suffering, as well as from hooligan motives. In July 2023, a resident of Teplooozersk Obluchensky district of the EAO appealed to the police, saying that she saw a man mocking a dog. It turned out that the drunken defendant beat the animal with a pan and a wooden board, and then with a knife, as a result of which the dog died. “In court, the man admitted guilt in the commission of this socially dangerous act completely, repented of what he had done,” the press service said. It is specified that earlier the defendant served a sentence in a correctional colony for intentional infliction of grave harm to health, committed with the use of weapons or objects used as weapons. Taking into account the recidivism, the court imposed a punishment of 1 year of imprisonment with serving a sentence in a correctional colony of strict regime. The sentence has not entered into force.
