Here, intelligent, sociable and independent "Chauzi" hail from ancient Egypt. Even habits resemble sphinxes. “They open the cupboards if they want, they can unscrew the lid on the bottle if they want. They act together, explains the breeder Alla. The pride of Russian felinology is the Kuril Bobtail. The name speaks for itself, it is a breed of short-tailed cats native to the Kuril Islands. Because of its hunting habits, it is considered a real “domestic lynx”. This breed is the prototype of the heroes of many folk tales and epics. It is believed that Siberian cats appeared in Russia in the XVI century. Thanks to Russian merchants, they spread throughout the country. “He’s eight months old, but he’s a hero,” says the breeder. “This cat here is quiet, and of course, she is as fast as a panther,” says the breeder. “We visit Voronezh, Belgorod, Kursk. We were in Rostov, too. In Volgograd for the second time, says the breeder. To enjoy the society of the cat family come hundreds of Volgograd residents. Not only representatives of our region, but also breeders from Krasnodar, Saratov, Belgorod region and Stavropol Krai take part in the exhibition itself. Cats are evaluated in several categories: furry, short-haired and completely hairless. The selection criteria are the standard. For each species, they are clearly prescribed for literally every part of the body. The pet must comply with its breeding standards. For experts, everything matters when evaluating: paws, ears, and even the tail. “The standard specifies all formats, including body, body-to-limb ratio, head shape. Ear staging, eye shape, eye color are prescribed, says Igor Bodunov, an expert at the International Cat Exhibition. More than 100 gentle, furry and curious pets. Some were brought in by whole families. Experts say that cats improve people’s lives by their presence.
