VDNKh hosted a screening of the serial drama Atom, dedicated to the history of the Soviet nuclear industry and scientists who created the country’s nuclear shield. The role of the NKVD general responsible for organizing the nuclear project was played by Alexei Guskov. In the series, along with historical personalities, fictional characters also act, or rather, these are collective images of real scientists, scouts who mined valuable secret documents. “Each of these people deserves a separate biopic. We made a cut in general, how they united, what united them, how they together, removing all their grievances, reflections, really accomplished a feat, says People’s Artist of Russia Alexei Guskov. After showing the first two series, Alexei Guskov, who, in addition to acting, assumed the role of general producer of Atom, answered questions from the audience, among them were representatives of the Kurchatov Institute. “It is very important when history and reality are combined. And in this case, the series is probably one of the most effective tools that will allow a huge mass of people, our contemporaries, to learn what the Soviet nuclear project is, says Elena Mironenko, General Director of the ATOM Foundation. In the pavilion "Atom" at VDNKh you can see the model of the same product called RDS-1, to be in the reconstructed secret laboratory, where under the leadership of Igor Kurchatov was created, and in 1949 tested the Soviet atomic bomb.
