1948. The first uranium graphite reactor has been launched. But there are serious problems. The reactor is not cooled, the background radiation is growing. Kurchatov’s employees urgently need to find a solution. To create its own atomic bomb and nuclear shield for the country is possible only thanks to the great efforts, exploits, and sometimes at the cost of their own lives.

1942. In the midst of the war, a team of scientists was instructed to create a Soviet atomic bomb in a very short time, and intelligence – to obtain the necessary information for a scientific project. So begins the exhausting and dangerous work of a race against time to prevent the coming nuclear blackmail of former allies. But will the participants of the project be able to cope with their personal passions and feelings and, relying solely on cold minds, join forces to achieve a common goal – security for their homeland and nuclear balance in the post-war world?
