How to celebrate the Buddhist New Year in Russia

A special ritual of spiritual purification on the eve of the White month - Sagaalgan - is held in all Buddhist temples of the country. In the Irkutsk region, hundreds of local residents came to Ust-Orda datsan. The rite "Dugjuuba" symbolizes getting rid of negative karma, diseases and failures of the outgoing year. To do this, believers and clergymen burn in a large fire pieces of dough, cloth and paper, in which sins and negativity are accumulated. The shamans of Tuva also carry out their ritual of cleansing and getting rid of negative energy with the smoke of herbs. Under the rhythms of diamonds and vargans, shamans enter into communication with spirits.
