On the first Monday of July, a new professional holiday will be celebrated - Architects' Day. The decree on its consolidation in the calendar was signed by the Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin.
The initiators of the establishment of a new professional holiday were the Union of Architects of Russia and the Ministry of Construction. The proposal was supported by the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and the Russian Academy of Sciences. It is specified that the establishment of the Day of the architect will contribute to increasing the prestige of the profession. According to Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Marat Khusnullin, the appearance of cities plays an important role in improving the living conditions of people and increasing the attractiveness of settlements for tourists and business. “The establishment of the Architect’s Day is a recognition of the special importance of this profession in the transformation of our cities and the development of the country as a whole,” Khusnullin concluded. Earlier, Marat Khusnullin reported that 11.5 thousand hectares of land were withdrawn from federal property recently, which allowed to increase the volume of construction. The Deputy Prime Minister noted that in the framework of the national project "Infrastructure for life" it is necessary to build by 2030 more than 1 billion square meters of housing.
