In the Arkhangelsk Museum IZO opened the exhibition "War". Before and after

Before the war, during and after. In these pictures, the northerners went to the front. There are many such valuable people here. The museum staff worked in the archives for three months. In a huge album managed to collect photos of pre-war Arkhangelsk. And around there are more than a hundred paintings of artists, under the brush of which the Soviet world has frozen. Daria Tomilova: Behind every painting is a big story. For example, this little landscape here. On its back, the author wrote: Here is the house of Fedot Semenovich from the Mezensky district. He had five sons at the front. No one has returned home.” And there are many such stories. In each picture, the audience seems to freeze. Alexandra Porshneva, a resident of Arkhangelsk: Look at it all and remember that time. Hard. As they say, the holiday is Victory Day, a good holiday, but very difficult. After this holiday, two or three days come to your senses. But it is still a memory of our defenders, because of them we are alive now.” The exposition is divided into three thematic sections. In each work, the history of a great country seems to come to life. Olga Kuleshova, curator of the exhibition project of the Museum of Fine Arts of Arkhangelsk: This year we decided to expand this historical context. And our exhibition will lead the viewer through three time sections. Artistic material begins in the late 20s. It ends in the mid-60s.” Perhaps the most striking is the period of 1945. Here the artists tried to convey all the triumph of the victorious May and the heavy sadness that the war left behind. Aneliya Kudryashova, a resident of Arkhangelsk: I remember Victory Day. A plane is flying in the village and dropping leaflets. Everyone is cheering, running to the village council, there is a radio installed. The music is playing, everyone is singing, everyone is happy, and some are crying. Because we have five out of a hundred people in the village.” And then there was the rebirth of the Soviet Union. Bright colors, scientific discoveries and sports achievements. None of this would have happened without those who died on the battlefield. Elena Vtorogina, Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation: “It is necessary to see, it is necessary to bring children and grandchildren.” Because there's a lot to see. And it takes pride! For our creative people who saw it with their own eyes, reflected it and left it to us.” Oksana Svetlova, Minister of Culture of the Arkhangelsk region: This year is the eightieth anniversary, and on the eve of this celebration, such a beautiful exhibition, to which we invite everyone. You will see in the halls the works of our artists, works from our museums: the museum of local history and the museum association and, of course, from private collections of artists. Work on the exhibition "War". Before and after will be until the end of May.
