At the Polytechnic College of NovSU, the regional stage of the Professionals Championship began today. Students compete in the design and manufacture of prosthetics and orthoses. Within three days, they must create a prosthetic hand.
Sophomore Sergey Grigoriev puts a stump on the turning table, it needs to be scanned to further make the nozzle, and then the prosthesis itself. The main task for the participants of the regional stage “Professionals” is to correctly execute the entire technological chain. Before they got to work, they learned the right computer programs and set up the hardware. At the championship, students show already acquired knowledge and skills. Helps self-education and, of course, lectures and practical extracurricular classes, which are conducted by teachers of the Polytechnic College. If during the competition participants have any problems and questions, then the technical administrator of the site will come to the rescue. Production of the prosthesis lasts several days. Scanning and processing the layout of the hand is performed in two hours, then a little more time is given to simulate the overlay, and the most difficult and long process is writing a computer program. Of course, this is not a bionic prosthesis. Plastic fingers cannot perform all mobile functions. But students at the championship gain experience and professional skills that will be useful to them in the future. This year, more than a hundred students of the Polytechnic College competed in professional skills. The winners will represent our region in April at the interregional championship "Professionals".
