The initiator of the project was the faction “New people”. “The purpose of this project is to increase the maximum amount of insurance indemnity to 2 800 000 rubles,” – stated in the explanatory note to the bill. The project takes into account changes that have occurred over the past ten years. It is aimed at increasing the level of security of deposits and the confidence of citizens in the banking system. The explanatory note emphasizes that the amount of 1.4 million rubles was established in 2014. This bill does not take into account the current economic situation in the country. In December 2024, it was reported that the Deposit Insurance Agency and the National Payment Card System will launch a new way to obtain insurance compensation through the Quick Payments System.
