Roman Abramovich was the owner of Chelsea from 2003 to 2022. After the start of a special military operation in Ukraine, Britain imposed sanctions against the businessman and froze his assets. In May 2022, the oligarch was able to sell the club for £2.5 billion. It is noteworthy that the transaction took place thanks to a special license obtained by Abramovich. The condition for its issuance was that the businessman will not receive the proceeds and send them to help all those affected by the conflict, that is, including the Russians. However, the British authorities want to give the money only for the needs of Ukraine.
