In Russia from April 1 will index pensions to certain categories of citizens. Changes in social payments will affect 3.5 million pensioners, as reported by a member of the Duma Committee on budget and taxes Nikita Chaplin.
The deputy from United Russia noted that pensions will be increased by 14.75%. As a result of this step, the income level will increase for 4.2 million citizens of the Russian Federation, including those who, due to life circumstances, were unable to earn the necessary work experience. “Indexing social pensions is an important step in ensuring social justice and care for our citizens,” Chaplin said. The reason for indexation is the increase in the subsistence minimum of a pensioner in Russia over the previous 12 months. According to Chaplin, the indexation will affect 3.5 million Russians receiving social pensions, as well as another 700,000 recipients of state pensions. In the case of the second category of citizens, this will affect veterans of the Second World War and residents of besieged Leningrad and besieged cities. The measure is also aimed at improving the financial well-being of victims of man-made and radiation disasters and other persons who need state support. As sums up Chaplin, for such purposes in 2025 in the federal budget laid about 85 million rubles.
