New Music Studio is a leading Russian ensemble of contemporary music, founded in 1993 at the Moscow Conservatory by composer Vladimir Tarnopolsky, conductor Igor Dronov and musicologist Alexander Sokolov. In the repertoire of the collective almost all chamber and chamber orchestral music of the XX – XXI centuries, ranging from early Russian avant-garde and Western modernism to compositions written in recent years. Specially for the Studio wrote such composers as Maarten Altena, Yuri Vorontsov, Alexander Vustin, Roman Ledenev, Faraj Karaev, Yuri Kasparov, Igor Kefalidi, Martyne Padding, Luis Naon, Enno Poppe, Roger Rethgate, Vladimir Tarnopolsky, Ivan Fedele, Nikolaus Huber, Gerard Tsinstag and many others. The musicians of the ensemble pay special attention to various cooperation with young composers - ordering new compositions, holding lectures, master classes, competitions. The ensemble actively performs in Russia and abroad – concerts of the Studio of New Music took place at such famous venues as the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory and the Berlin Philharmonic, Konzerthaus and the Paris Cite de la Musique, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic and the Venetian Theatre of Malibran, as well as in many other major halls of the world. The ensemble has repeatedly performed with Ensemble Modern, performed with the Schoenberg Ensemble and Klangforum Wien. "Studio of New Music" regularly holds master classes in various conservatories of the world, organizes special projects at universities, including such famous as Oxford, Boston and Harvard. The studio became the first and only Russian ensemble invited to the International Courses of New Music in Darmstadt. "Studio of New Music" is the basic ensemble of the international festival of contemporary music Moscow Forum, held by the Center for Contemporary Music of the Moscow Conservatory. s***
