"The key on the pavement, or the husband at the door." The Helikon Opera Theatre presents the premiere of Offenbach’s operetta staged by Olga Melkumova, laureate of the International Competition of Young Directors Nano-Opera. Whether she managed to convey the adventurous spirit of musical comedy, learned Jenneth Arlt. A young composer and ladies' man Florestan, fleeing from the angry husband of his beloved, accidentally finds himself in the bedroom of a stranger's bride shortly before her wedding night. This is a classic sketch of Offenbach's operetta, "Key on the pavement." Add hide-and-seek in the bathroom and in the closet, escape through the window and travel through the chimney, a friend ready to embark on any adventures. It turns out a real musical farce, which has not lost its popularity for a century and a half. "Key on the pavement" - the thesis performance of the graduate of GITIS director Olga Melkumova. Helikon-Opera managed not only to realize all the ideas and adapt the plot to modern realities, but also to rethink the story itself, changing the motivation of the main characters. The confusing story is what attracted me in the first place. This is a classic sitcom, but we tried to make the play even more twisted, says director Olga Melkumova. To the easy, witty and a little piquant story about love twists and turns added elements of mysticism. A couple of ghosts, a husband and wife who lived in this house a hundred years ago, not only watch the new occupants, but also actively intervene in the action. The production, it was in such a form interesting, maybe a bit like a lab even. I mean, open dialogue. We discussed it all. That is, we had enough time to discuss the characters, says the soloist of the Helikon Opera Olga Davydova. The performance does not lose the main properties of the operetta genre: it is a theater of active action, dressing, humor and wide waltz melodies. “Ola is always interesting to work with. And she, yes, of course. And, of course, she has a musical education. She knows the score, she knows it all, she doesn't break the music in any way. She hears some moments that the music enhances, says Artem Davydov, conductor of the Helikon Opera Theatre. For the premiere of "Helikon-Opera" traditionally updates the exhibition space: in the foyer there is an exposition of works by artist Misha Lenna. He says to himself: “Artist, jazz musician, dancer, traveler, admirer of Baxt, Klimt and the French Impressionists.” Watercolors, graphics, mosaics, sculptures. These exhibits are filled with images of music, theater, elegant female figures and the energy of movement. “I began to think about the name of my technique in which I work. And I found a word for myself. Augment. Augmenta in Latin means "growth". Well, in my opinion, there is such a phrase in Russian - augmented reality. When one layer is layered onto another. So the viewer can sort of take layers of information. Looking at the picture, it somehow has to delay, says artist Misha Lenn. The operetta detective line is also tightening. Who in fact will be a young man and what significance have scores here, the viewer will learn in the final.
