Among the exhibits are models of the XVII-XIX centuries.
The exhibition "Vologda shipbuilders and travelers . From sea to sea" is held in the Shalamov House in Vologda , 14 models and semi-models of ships built in Russia in the XVII-XIX centuries are presented. They marked the beginning of the formation of the military and merchant fleet of our country. All exhibits are made according to archival drawings by captain of the second rank Sergey Lushkin. He has been engaged in shipbuilding for more than 30 years and uses materials that were used by masters of the corresponding era. “Some works involve up to nine different varieties of wood. If the oak is moraine, then it is necessary that it lies in the water for 100 years without access to air. All the threads are homemade, which with the help of a machine turned into cotton. This is a very serious immersion in the material, says researcher of the Shalamov House, curator of the exhibition Andrei Tayushev.
