In the Vologda region, sales of alcoholic beverages decreased sharply. Residents of the region bought two times less drinks containing alcohol, compared to the figures of a week ago and last year.
RBC reports. According to the portal, the data are based on statistics of two federal retail chains. Such indicators of a decrease in alcohol purchases are associated with previously introduced restrictions. From March 1, in the Vologda region to buy such products on weekdays is possible only in a strictly defined period of time – from 12:00 to 14:00. As a result of the measure, sales of alcoholic beverages of any fortress in one of the regional retail chains decreased by 57% compared to February 24, 2025 and by 52% compared to March 4, 2024. In another retail network, data for similar time intervals amounted to 60% and 52%, respectively. At the same time, it is noted that more objective results can be summed up in about a month. During this period, it will be clear how the user has adapted to the innovations of the regional authorities. The adopted law implies the sale of alcoholic beverages of any fortress within the specified two hours only on weekdays and only in retail stores. On weekends and holidays, the sale of products will be carried out without restrictions. The reason for the introduction of measures by the authorities of the Vologda region is associated with high mortality due to alcoholism. After the adoption of the law, almost 100 alcohol shops in the region closed.
