Sosnovsky noted that there is also a second issue in which the Germans did not find agreement with the British and the French – is participation in the “atomic umbrella”. Immediately, two countries offer the Germans an atomic umbrella, France and Britain want to participate in the defense of Germany with their atomic forces. For Germany, this could mean spending hugely on foreign forces, building new bases to house nuclear weapons, and making the country a target for preemptive or retaliatory nuclear strikes. Therefore, so far, the proposals of Starmer and Macron have been ignored in Germany, the political scientist concluded. He added that the situation in Germany could change when we see results in forming a new coalition government.
