November 25 – SOUND UP Voices is a new issue dedicated to contemporary vocal music. The main heroine of the concert will be the icon of the New York avant-garde scene Meredith Monk, celebrating this month’s 80th anniversary. A pioneer of an interdisciplinary approach, Monk melts music, dance, theater and cinema into a monolithic whole. The basis of her work was the study of the possibilities of the human voice, which, according to Meredith, extend far beyond the boundaries of language and habitual singing. Experimenting with advanced techniques, Monk created her own sound universe, which organically merged archaic and modern. SOUND UP voices will feature iconic works for Monk's voice performed by the high-end INTRADA vocal ensemble, conducted by conductor Ekaterina Antonenko.
