Chairman of the Murmansk Regional Duma Sergey Dubovoy presented veteran of the Great Patriotic War Antonina Ivanovna Barantseva with a commemorative medal for the 80th anniversary of the Victory. The parliamentarians thanked the veteran of the Great Patriotic War for her steadfastness, courage, love for the Motherland, great contribution to the patriotic education of young people and the preservation of historical memory, wished good health, longevity, strength and energy. In turn, Antonina Ivanovna thanked the deputies for their attentive attitude to the older generation of northerners and wished that the new generations would never have to experience all the hardships and hardships of wartime. Russian President Vladimir Putin established the jubilee medal "80 years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" as "a tribute to the great feat, heroism and dedication of war veterans." It is awarded to war participants, partisans and members of underground organizations, home front workers, former minor prisoners of concentration camps, ghettos and other places of forced detention, citizens of foreign states not included in the Commonwealth of Independent States who fought as part of military national formations in the ranks of the Armed Forces of the USSR, as part of partisan detachments, underground groups, and other anti-fascist formations.
