"The Magic Brush of Elizabeth Boehm." The new exhibition of the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts is dedicated to one of the first women in Russia who received an academic art education. The exposition presents silhouette illustrations for Turgenev’s essays “Notes of a Hunter”. But the main place is occupied by postcards in Russian style. At the turn of the XIX-XX centuries, they were so popular that they were produced in large editions by the standards of that time - 300 copies. Collector Valery Krugov collected them throughout Russia and Europe. No less important in the artist’s work was the “ABC”, where the letters of the Russian alphabet correspond to thirty watercolors in the Slavic manner. “She was the first female painter. That is, it was not a mass phenomenon. And she paid her attention to ordinary people more, although she herself was from the noble class, said Elena Sandakova, an employee of the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts.
