The novel is an epic in which the private life of the heroes is closely intertwined with the historical life of Russia. The title of the work is symbolic. War is the war of 1812, where in addition to the historical figures of Kutuzov, Napoleon, Barclay de Tolly, Bagration, there are numerous characters of the novel.
