Together with the artistic director of the festival and the invited expert of the festival, we deal with the basic concepts and main actors of world sound art. - one of the most significant figures in music of the second half of the twentieth century, an American composer and sound artist who opened new prospects for the development of academic music. Developing the concepts of John Cage, Lucier revised the traditional European practice of creating and performing music, based on the composition of musical structures and self-expression of the author, and turned his attention to natural phenomena and their inherent natural processes of deployment in time. He placed in the space of art the act of observing the acoustic properties of objects and natural phenomena hidden from ordinary or “unarmed” – by his art – view. The subject of Evin Lucier’s artistic research for more than 50 years of work was: sound as such and its impact on the environment, unusual acoustic processes, feedbacks, beats, resonance properties of various objects, electromagnetic vibrations in the earth’s atmosphere, waves generated by the human brain, acoustic properties of premises, as well as the repeated refraction of sound through the “prism” of different sizes of spaces – from the kettle to the space of human memory. – Founder of the first electroacoustic studio at the Moscow Conservatory, a visiting expert of the festival.
