At an extraordinary meeting of the Yaroslavl Regional Duma, the regional ombudsman presented a report on the work. The deputies heard a report on the results of the activities of the Commissioner for Human Rights. Sergey Baburkin noted that in 2024 there were more appeals than in 2023. More than 7,000 people asked for help from the Ombudsman. The largest number of appeals – more than a thousand – relate to the right to housing. This is the resettlement of emergency housing, the implementation at the expense of the state of the right to housing by large families, orphans, young families, the unsatisfactory state of the maneuvering fund, said Sergey Baburkin, Commissioner for Human Rights in the Yaroslavl region. Among the main reasons for violation of rights: imperfection of legislation, errors in law enforcement, manifestation of dishonesty and inattention by officials. However, thousands of people were able to help. “The level of work of this institute in the Yaroslavl region is quite high, this is also assessed by the leadership of the corresponding direction in the Russian Federation and today the deputies thanked for the work of Sergey Alexandrovich,” said Mikhail Borovitsky, Chairman of the Yaroslavl Regional Duma. The work of the Ombudsman over the past year, deputies gave a positive assessment.
