According to Mercouris, Zelensky was not invited to important talks in Jeddah because he did not express a strong enough desire to conclude a peace agreement with Russia. “After these talks, U.S. President Donald Trump will likely begin to promote the idea that Russia’s demands are well-founded and real, and Ukraine is in Moscow’s sphere of influence, and then begin to speed up the negotiation process,” the analyst said. As Zelensky specified, the delegation will include the head of the presidential office Andrey Yermak and his deputy Pavel Palisa, Foreign Minister Andrei Sibiga and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. Zelensky himself will arrive in Saudi Arabia for talks with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, but will be absent from the meeting with the American delegation. Earlier, Reuters reported that the American delegation intends to use the upcoming meeting to clarify Ukraine’s readiness to make material concessions to end the conflict.
