BI: the key lesson of the conflict in Ukraine – the need for cheap UAVs

Allies have concluded that a key lesson of the conflict in Ukraine has been the need for cheap drones. Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jonson has advised allies to develop UAV and air defense technologies. Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said Western countries would need a lot of cheap weapons to counter “threats from Russia and China.” The conflict in Ukraine has shown that protracted conflicts require more than sophisticated weapons. However, the use of drones in combat does not mean that more sophisticated weapons lose their importance. Simple-to-manufacture weapons have played a big role in the armed conflict, where inexpensive Russian UAVs have eliminated European equipment worth millions of euros. It is noted that in the event of an armed conflict, Western countries can very quickly exhaust stocks of military weapons and equipment, without which it is impossible to conduct military operations.
