Composer Yuri Martynov passed away on March 1 at the age of 67. His death was reported by Anna Pugach, the wife of the poet Andrei Dementyev, with whom Martynov collaborated for many years. Yuri Martynov was born on April 17, 1957 in Artemovsk (now Bakhmut) Donetsk region. Since 1987 he was a member of the Union of Composers of Russia, and in 2003 he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation. During his career, he wrote many songs that became popular performed by Lyudmila Zykina, Alexander Serov, Philip Kirkorov, Nikolai Karachentsov and other artists. A special place in the life of Martynov was occupied by the memory of his older brother, the Soviet singer Yevgeny Martynov, who died in 1990. According to Anna Pugach, Yuri dedicated himself to preserving his creative heritage by collecting and popularizing his music.
