Drive. Stolen painting by Peter Bruegel Jr. found in Dutch museum
Stolen more than half a century ago, the painting by Peter Bruegel Jr. “Woman carrying coals” was found in a Dutch museum. Finding the missing helped the famous detective on investigation of crimes in the field of art Arthur Brand. The painting disappeared from the National Museum in Gdansk in 1974, but in 2024 it appeared in the Dutch city of Gouda. The current owner of the work said that the painting was bought by his father from the owner of the gallery, whose name he does not know. The painting could have been smuggled out of Poland. It is possible that Polish special services may be involved in the story. Arthur Brand eventually confirmed the authenticity of the canvas.
