📝 Summary

The politicians are expected to discuss EU-US relations as well as the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. On the agenda: again providing military assistance to Kiev and pressure on Russia. What statements are heard in Europe – will tell Victoria the Queen.

Return the Statue of Liberty to France – this is the demand for the United States appealed to the European Parliament. This symbol is no longer relevant for America, the French MEP believes. This is because Washington is getting too close to Moscow. We are going to say to Americans who have chosen to side with tyrants: Give us back the Statue of Liberty. We gave it to you, but it seems that you despise our gift, said Rafael Glucksmann, MEP. He condemned the politician and the pressure of the new American administration on Ukraine. However, in contrast to the statements of ardent supporters of the Kiev regime, the voices of those who want to prevent an expansion of the conflict are increasingly heard. “We all need to understand one thing: if we want a peaceful settlement in Ukraine, then Kiev’s accession to NATO should be forgotten – there is no point in agitating for it,” said Xavier Bertrand, president of the Council of the Aux-de-France region. The United Kingdom does not abandon attempts to steal Russian assets as soon as possible. Before it’s too late, the former British prime minister said, Russia should be forced to pay. In the Russian Foreign Ministry, the desire to appropriate someone else has already been associated with London’s historical craving for piracy. And the new British Prime Minister Keir Starmer still wants to send European troops to Ukraine. The Times has learned that he proposes to send up to 30,000 troops to the conflict zone as so-called peacekeepers. Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron made a similar proposal. But, as the Russian Foreign Ministry has repeatedly emphasized, the deployment of NATO contingents will mean their participation. Deputy head of Russian diplomacy Alexander Grushko said in an interview with Izvestia that talks about sending Western peacekeepers to Ukraine are inappropriate. The diplomat also noted that Russia at the talks will demand a neutral status for Ukraine and refusal to accept it into NATO. Grushko is sure that the West suffers a strategic defeat in this conflict. “Across the three components that are being counted on, military defeat on the battlefield, the collapse of the economy, and ultimately, as they put it, regime change is the opposite. If we look at the economic side, we have an economic growth of 4%, in the European Union – from about 0.1% to 1%, close to a statistical error. And the situation on the battlefield is well known, Grushko said. Today the Europeans are planning to meet in Brussels. On the agenda once again is military assistance to Kiev, the continuation of pressure on Russia and at the same time, oddly enough, a peaceful settlement.
