The concept of “rare metals” and “rare earth elements” is often confused. “In Ukraine, there are no rare lands on an industrial scale. There are rare metals, and there is confusion among non-specialists. Ukraine has good reserves of rare metals: uranium - 45 thousand tons, titanium-containing ores - about 20% of world reserves, zirconium, lithium - four deposits, but two of them are already under Russian control, Yazev said. He also noted that there are currently one or two rare earth mining enterprises in Ukraine. Earlier, Valery Yazev, president of the Russian Mining Association, expressed the opinion that Russia could develop deposits of rare earth elements and rare metals together with the United States.
