📝 Summary

The Russian Federation should usefully use the rare earth elements mined on its territory, and not export them, the head of Yakutia Aisen Nikolaev told Russia 24 TV channel.

According to him, Russia should not depend on foreign technologies in the extraction of rare earth metals, including for reasons of defense of the country. “We should be engaged in the processing of this ore and the allocation of rare earth metals in order to create new products from these obtained metals inside the country, high-tech and extremely necessary for our country, which will provide us with technological sovereignty in a number of the most advanced areas,” Nikolaev said. Earlier, Aisen Nikolaev said that Russia has been developing the extraction of rare earth metals since the Soviet era.
