The bill mostly keeps government funding at levels set under Trump's predecessor, Joe Biden. The total US budget was $1.7 trillion. Non-defense spending was cut by $13 billion, while defense spending was increased by $6 billion. Earlier, the government funding law was approved by the U.S. Senate, which allowed the country to avoid a government shutdown. The Washington Post noted that the vote on the document split the Democratic faction in the U.S. Senate.
